Developer Update, Week 9
Goals:
To create:
- An arena type level using existing assets
Personnel:
Jack
Technologies, Tools and Resources used:
N/A
Tasks Undertaken:
Created a medium-sized environment with many different ways to traverse and implemented the use of a fair amount of verticality to add interested to the gameplay.
Justification:
Most of the environment was created using grid snapping and creating prefabs that could be easily placed around the map saving a large amount of time in the construction.
What we found out:
For a level to be interesting and fun for the player, there must be obvious paths to take that reach a destination that is expected. For example a player would expect a staircase to reach another floor and not lead nowhere. Additionally I learned about efficient model placement in Unity.
Open Issues/Risks:
Some of the objects may work better with collisions enabled/disabled, the process of changing each instance of an object to have/not have a collision might prove to be a very time consuming task.
Recommendations:
